Hi!
On February 16, 2013, at the age of
37, Angelina Jolie underwent a preventive double mastectomy after learning she had an
87% risk of developing breast cancer. She has a defective BRCA1 gene resulting
in an increased risk of developing breast cancer and ovarian cancer. Her mother
had breast cancer and died from ovarian cancer at the age of 56. Jolie's
mastectomy lowered her chances of developing breast cancer to under 5%.
She explained her decision to go
public with her story, stating "I hope that other women can benefit from
my experience. Cancer is still a word that strikes fear into people's hearts,
producing a deep sense of powerlessness. But today it is possible to find out
through a blood test whether you are highly susceptible to breast and ovarian
cancer, and then take action."
This is a disease that affects many
women and in my opinion Angelina Jolie made a very difficult and courageous
decision.

Dear Andreia
what can I say? I'm sure it was a very difficult decision and I have a friend in the same situation. Life ha got these trials for us, but in the end what matters is life.
Anyway, thanks for sharing.
