William and Kate's Royal Wedding

Friday, 29 April 2011

Royal wedding
Despite considerable family pressure and unrelenting media attention on the young couple – which nearly drove them apart – in the end, true love conquers all and the couple marries in a fairy-tale wedding.

What do you think about this event?

Trisha Brown in Serralves

To celebrate the World Dance Day I suggest you see the exhibition in Museu Serralves dedicated to the North American dancer and choreographer Trisha Brown who reinvented dance in a radical way in the 60s and 70s. She founded the Judson Dance Theatre and she invented a whole new language based in daily gestures and very simple and basic instructions.

Pop Art

Wednesday, 27 April 2011

Although I know it's a bit late to post here but what really matters is the intention!

In the spring break I remembered to do something for the English subject. In the second period of school, we talked about Art and one of the art movements that we spoke about in our class was Pop Art.
So I just had the idea to make a little present for our teacher in Photoshop.
I tried my best and I hope that everyone enjoys it ^^

The revolution day

Monday, 25 April 2011

"History does not teach fatalism.  There are moments when the will of a handful of free men breaks through determinism and opens up new roads. "

Charles de Gaulle

Freedom from hunger and freedom from pain
freedom from loss and so freedom from gain.
Freedom to give and freedom to share
freedom from want and that of despair.

Freedom to think and freedom to know
freedom to achieve and freedom to grow.
Freedom from bondage and freedom of liberation
freedom from ignorance and any unknown situation.

Freedom to come and freedom to leave
freedom to stay and freedom to conceive.
Freedom from struggle and freedom of ease
freedom to enjoy and the capacity to please.

Freedom from failure and freedom of success
freedom from denial and freedom of access.
Freedom from illusion and freedom of reality

freedom to become what we are in actuality.

Freedom to live and freedom to die
freedom to laugh and freedom to cry.
Freedom to speak and freedom to listen
freedom to act based on a wise decision.

Freedom from hate and freedom of love
freedom of below and freedom of above.
Freedom of the past and freedom of the present
freedom of the future and what it can represent.

Freedom from war and freedom of peace
freedom to begin and freedom to cease.
Freedom from sickness and freedom of health
freedom from poverty and mishandled wealth.

Freedom from wrong and freedom being right
freedom of the day and freedom of the night.
Freedom to choose and freedom to reject
freedom to imagine what there is to expect.

Freedom from lust and freedom from greed
freedom from anger and freedom from breed.
Freedom from jealousy and freedom from pride
freedom from within and freedom from outside.
Freedom of always not having anything to hide.

Freedom from space and also freedom from time
freedom from attachment and freedom from crime
Freedom to work and freedom to play
freedom to believe and freedom to pray.
Freedom to experience a rebirth someday.

There´s nothing I can really say about April 25 once I wasn’t born yet. Nevertheless, I have my own opinion about such an important day because freedom is one of the things I thank the most although I believe this young generation takes it for granted - It is easy to take liberty for granted, when you have never had it taken from you. We have never lived in another reality so we don´t really appreciate it.
I hope that will change and people respect their own freedom and that of the others.

"Nothing is more difficult, and therefore more precious, than to be able to decide. "
Napoleon Bonaparte

Happy Easter!

   Hello everybody!
I just want to wish you a holy Easter! Hopefully, with the visit of some weird bunny, which should carry lots of chocolate eggs, like the one in the picture! :)

Sing it for the world

Tuesday, 19 April 2011

To tell you the truth I did not know this song until I heard it on glee on an episode dedicated to anthems. According to the students an anthem portrays a deep emotional message. A my chemical romance’s original song, it shows the importance of music and art in general. An alert scream to what we believe is wrong and unfair in the society! Fortunately and thanks to the effort of lots of people we live in a society in which we can use our voice to “sing for the world”, “being what tomorrow needs”. An interventional song indeed!

I refuse to be repressed and I think anyone should accept it easily.
Use your voice!
I hope you like it :)

The power of words

Friday, 15 April 2011

Words can be very powerful. They can mean love, they can hurt a lot but if used the right way they can change our attitude towards the other.

Mankind is no island

This video was the tropfest NY 2008 winner. A film shot entirely on a cell phone, using found signage on the streets of NY and Sydney. I found it very interesting and have decided to share it with you.

SPRING BREAK

Thursday, 14 April 2011

SPRING BREAK is an interruption of classes around the time of our Easter holidays that occurs in some countries in the world like the United States, Canada, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Mexico, China, UK, Brazil and Dominican Republic.
In this week (or weeks, depending on the countries) students go the beaches and drink and party all over the day and night. These weeks are marked by many festivals, concerts, entertainment, alcohol and nudity on beaches.
We can see the difference by comparing the cultures and school universes around the world. Here the Easter holidays have a very religious meaning as everywhere but students take the opportunity to rest and study and not to celebrate until they fell.

Nina Simone

Saturday, 9 April 2011

One of the most famous jazz singers of all times and also one of my favorites. Almost all her songs speak about love, but love amongst all beings as she fought with all her power against racism. She has had a great influence from Bach which is clear in this song. I hope you enjoy her voice as much as I do.

Have Nice Holidays

Friday, 8 April 2011

My dear students
A big thanks to all that have made a success of this blog. Lots of people have been following what we do, what we create and  the way we think. I'm proud of you as we are now reaching 12000 people around the world.
Enjoy the holidays and if possible....once in a while make a journey around the universe.

Dancing is the world's favorite metaphor

Thursday, 7 April 2011

As I had promised here is my work about dance. In a strange way, dance has become my shelter, the place I run to when the world just seems upside down. I recommend this experience to everyone. Just try it because “I see dance being used as communication between body and soul, to express what it's too deep to find for words”, maybe you´ll see it too.

Be happy....be true to yourself
