Jamaica is an island in the Caribbean sea with 234 km from east to west, and 80 km from north to south. Its capital is Kingston.

Jamaica was discovered by Spain (Cristovão Colombo) in 1494. Colombo used it as his family's private property. The British conquered it in 1670.
During the first 200 years of British rule, Jamaica became the largest exporter of sugar, which was achieved through massive use of African slave labour.
In 1838 the slaves made a revolt and slavery was abolished.
The head of state of Jamaica's Queen Isabel II of the United Kingdom.
Jamaica is divided into 14 parishes, which are grouped into 3 counties:
- Cornwall;
- Middlesex;
- Surrey.
Religion is very important in Jamaica but there is one very important religion that has its origins in Jamaica: spiritualism or rastafari.

Dear Diogo
I can´t believe I wrote a comment and probably I didn't save it. My apologies. There were two minor mistakes in your post and it was very good. The class was very enjoyable and everybody had the chance to improve their speaking skills.
Have a nice weekend
