Climate Change

Tuesday 11 June 2013

The term "climate change" refers to changes in global climate or regional climates of the Earth over time.
These variations relate to changes in temperature, precipitation, cloudiness and other weather phenomenon relative to historical averages.

These changes can be caused by processes internal to the Earth-atmosphere system, by external forces (eg variations in solar activity) or, more recently, by the result of human activity.

In my opinion the human race has contributed enough to change the Earth. The atmosphere over the years has changed. I don't know if decades from now we will still have the seasons, due to all these changes. We no longer have the spring as before, a summer as before ... We knew that between March and June, spring had blossomed between June and September the blazing sun had conquered thousands of people to the beaches. In recent times, the weather is uncertain. Therefore, we have to be careful with everything we do, it can further contribute to the environmental disaster.

Macklemore song

Saturday 1 June 2013

Macklemore is a referencing how the clothes defined him and his image. He thougt that these clothes would make him cool, and was conditioned to think this way by the blind-consumer-environment and basically wants to send a message that what you wear doesn't define who you are. And it doesn't matter if your outfit costs one hundred dollars or ten dollars because it's simple clothes. He even says that it is possible to dress well and spend a little quantity of money.

New diet habits

The over consumption of meat has been growing in the last couple of years, and that could affect some animal species since it's consumption could lead to a future extinction of these species. This away the number of animals could be insufficient to match the population's needs. A future lack of meat could lead to companies using toxic chemical substances in their products to speed up the prodruction, and this would cause both health and environmental issues. Meat's consumption has been rising due to advertising and due to a strong investment from companies to produce meat in a very appeling way . Nowaday's we have to face several health related problems like diabetes and obesity.

A well-known portuguese artist

Hi everyone! Today I will talk to you about a portuguese artist, Joana Vasconcelos.

Joana Vasconcelos was born in Paris, in 1971, and now lives and works in Lisbon, Portugal.

Her creative process is based on the appropriation, decontextualisation and subversion of pre-existent objects and everyday realities into sculptures, installations, performances, and video or photographic records, to reveal an acute sense of scale and mastery of color, while combining in the materialization of concepts that challenge the prearranged routines of daily life. Starting out from ingenious operations of displacement, the artist offers us a complicit vision, but one which is at the same time critical of contemporary society.

She is a very well-known artist and, in 2012, Joana Vasconcelos showed her work at the major annual contemporary art exhibition in the Palace of Versailles.

Joana Vasconcelos has already won several awards, such as The Winner Takes It All, from Berardo Foundation, the Fundo Tabaqueira Arte Pública and the Prémio EDP Novos Artistas.

Here are some of her works:
